Welcome to Widgetry. We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when merchants and their customers use our Shopify application and related services.

1. Information We Collect

When merchants install and use Widgetry, we may collect the following information:

• Shop name, domain, and Shopify store information (via Shopify OAuth).
• Merchant contact information (name, email, store owner details).
• Subscription and billing status via Shopify's native subscription system.
• Widget configuration and customization settings chosen by the merchant.
• Product and inventory data, used to power widgets such as Stock Scarcity, Pre-Orders, Size Chart, and Cross-sell/Upsell.
• Order and transaction data, used to power the Sales Popup (real orders) and Delivery Estimate widgets.
• Product review content, ratings, reviewer name/email, and photos submitted through the Product Reviews and Reviews Carousel widgets.
• Storefront customer interactions with widgets (e.g. popup dismissals, coupon claims, cookie consent choices), used to operate the relevant widget and for basic usage analytics.
• Cookie consent preferences recorded via Shopify's Customer Privacy API (Cookie Banner widget).
• Email addresses submitted through Exit Intent Popup, Coupon Popup, and the review-request email flow.
• Usage logs, error logs, and performance metrics related to app operation.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the 24 widgets offered within Widgetry.
• Process and manage subscription billing through Shopify's native billing system.
• Display real, accurate data in storefront widgets (real orders, real inventory, real reviews) rather than fabricated or placeholder data.
• Send review-request emails and manage the associated discount-reward loop.
• Record and honor cookie consent choices for GDPR-compliant tracking behavior.
• Allow merchants to configure, preview, and customize widgets from the Widgetry dashboard and Reviews page.
• Provide customer support and technical assistance to merchants.
• Monitor, maintain, and improve app performance, reliability, and features.
• Comply with legal and regulatory requirements, including Shopify's Partner Program Agreement.

3. Shopify Data Access

Widgetry accesses only the Shopify data necessary to provide the widgets and features a merchant has enabled (for example, product, inventory, and order data for the widgets that display them). We comply with Shopify's API Terms, Partner Program Agreement, and applicable data protection requirements. We do not access Shopify data beyond what is required for the app's functionality.

4. Customer-Facing Widgets and Storefront Data

Some widgets interact directly with a merchant's storefront visitors, including the Cookie Banner, Exit Intent Popup, Coupon Popup, Product Reviews, Sales Popup, and Agree to Terms Checkbox. These widgets may collect limited information directly from storefront visitors (such as an email address, a review submission, or a cookie consent choice) solely to provide the corresponding widget functionality on behalf of the merchant. The merchant is the data controller for their store, and we act as a data processor for this storefront data.

5. Cookie Consent (GDPR Compliance)

The Cookie Banner widget integrates with Shopify's real Customer Privacy API. Consent choices made by storefront visitors are recorded and passed to Shopify's consent APIs so that tracking scripts and cookies on the store respect the visitor's actual preferences. We do not use the Cookie Banner to fabricate or bypass consent.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell merchant or customer data. Information may be shared only:

• With trusted service providers who help us operate the app (e.g. hosting, email delivery for review requests).
• With Shopify, as required for billing, app embed, and platform operation.
• When required by law, legal process, or to protect our rights, users, or platform security.
• With third-party integrations the merchant has explicitly authorized.

7. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards designed to protect data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

8. Data Retention

We retain merchant configuration data, review content, and related information for as long as the app remains installed on a store, plus a limited period afterward to allow reinstallation and to comply with legal obligations. Upon uninstalling Widgetry, associated store data is deleted from our systems in accordance with Shopify's data protection requirements, except where retention is required by law.

9. Merchant and Customer Rights

Merchants and, where applicable, their customers may have the right to:

• Request access to stored information.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of data where applicable.
• Withdraw cookie consent at any time via the Cookie Banner.
• Uninstall the application at any time, which stops further data collection.

10. Third-Party Services

Widgetry may rely on third-party services including Shopify (app platform, billing, and Customer Privacy API), cloud hosting providers, and email delivery providers used for review-request and discount emails. These services maintain their own privacy policies.

11. Children's Privacy

Widgetry is intended for business use by Shopify merchants and is not directed toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
